This redwood burl is a cross section of where the root and the trunk of the tree begin. The grain is a knot of different densities and colors in this transformational part of its growth. Needless to say, working this swirl of textures is quite the challenge. This piece originated with only one shallow depression as Jesse had to be careful with routering out around all the epoxy fill. Eventually he put it back on the chopping block and upped the ante with multiple levels and a drain for more pour over style ceremonies.
And yes... There's an option to light it up with some small led lights and feel the warmth of the emerald textures.
This one is definitely a talking piece with all its live edge rawness and smoothly finished oiled wood contrasts all glowing and ready for company. The many, many hours that went into this piece do not reflect the price.
