Unlike most man-made fibers, rayon is not synthetic. It is made from wood pulp, a naturally-occurring, cellulose-based raw material. It was also made in a closed-loop process, meaning the by-product that some rayon productions release into the waterways is here re-used and therefore qualifies as an eco fabric. 

Sustainability encompasses not only how items are made but also how they are cared for. For ultimate longevity, wash in warm water and hang dry. While occasional drying on low heat is acceptable, elastic, in general, is heat sensitive and may become brittle faster if stored in a hot place or frequently put into a hot dryer.
